All six episodes from the first series of the BBC science fiction
drama, based on Terry Nation's novel, in which 95% of the
population have been wiped out by a freak plague, leaving the
remaining survivors to rebuild civilisation. Awakened into a
surreal nightmare, where basic commodities such as food and water
are in scarce supply, a group of disparate strangers led by Abby
(Julie Graham), Anya (Zoe Tapper), and high-security prisoner Tom
(Max Beesley) must put aside their differences, combine their
talents, and learn to adapt to the daunting situation they now find
themselves in.

A great series

My husband and I really enjoy this series. Although there are frequent confrontations with other groups, there is no violence just for violence's sake and the characters are very plausible. Abbey, who had the virus and recovered, holds the group together. Tom, an ex con who escaped from prison, is the tough who protects the team and Greg, the black member of the team, is a very no nonsense character. Then there is Anya, a doctor, a young Muslim boy called Nhadj and a playboy Muslim, who takes Nhadj under his wing. What we like is the way that if anything happens to one of the group the rest of the group go to the rescue, so each episode is the group working to rescue one of their members often from their own folly or from the value they have for another group eg Abby for her immunity or Anya for the fact that she is a doctor.
