Youth media present socio-cultural tendencies which young people
reflect in their language and thus often set linguistic trends. Or
does it work the other way round? In either case, there is a close
connection between youth culture and youth language, which in
Catalonia is heightened by the encounter between two languages and
cultures, Spanish and Catalan. Against his background, the author
contrasts and compares linguistic products of young Catalans with
the language used in youth broadcasts and publications in Catalan
communication media.
