Taking their rare tone from an unusual occupation, these poems
explore the author's post as a dog sitter during a five-year period
in Sambro Head, Nova Scotia. Inspired by the countless English
setters the poet looked after, the ocean-side doghouse she
maintained, and the many and varied houseguests of her employer,
this collection is by turns extravagant, intense, and celebratory.
Combining the concepts of "dog" and "nanny" in its wistful title,
this anthology brings together a variety of whimsical elements,
reflecting on a unique and memorable experience on the Canadian
shore.
