"After the Deluge" serves as a demonstration of the practical
imagination applied to the ecology of water. Taking Leonardo da
Vinci's "deluge" drawings of catastrophic floods as its starting
point, and inspired by his lifelong study of all aspects of water,
the dialogues in this book gather together artists and scientists
to discuss the fluidity, rising, contamination, and disappearance
of water. Creative expression is examined in fields as diverse as
art history, musical composition, architecture, painting, biology,
infectious diseases, civil engineering, and fluid dynamics. This
beautifully illustrated book also documents the exhibition
"Aquiferious Virginia," which accompanied the dialogues.
