Mieczkowski, Ernst Benkert, and Francis Hewitt formed the Anonima
Group in the 1960s, and together they developed strict methods of
creation and exploration of visual perception that continued to
inform Mieczkowski's work long after the group dissolved. The
exhibition will focus on the black and white works from this period
and Mieczkowski's return to this theme throughout his career.
Viewing his constructions, sculpture, and later paintings under the
microscope of a singular palette will allow for a uniformed
examination of his creative process. It will allow new discoveries
into how his thought process progressed, yet remained fixated on
geometric abstraction. The exhibition will introduce Mieczkowski's
color works as well, relating them to his black and white
compositions.
