The Soviet World, first published in 1965, examines both the
domestic society of the Soviet Union under Khrushchev and its
foreign relations with the capitalist world. Khrushchev offered a
challenge to the West, to compare the practical benefits to the
people of communism and capitalism, and his foreign policies as
much as his domestic policies aimed to prove the Soviet Union's
economic superiority to the United States.
