Margaret Oliphant Oliphant (nee Margaret Oliphant Wilson,
1828-1897) was a Scottish novelist and historical writer. Her
biographical work was known for its vivacity and sympathetic touch.
Interestingly, The Literary History of England from 1760 to 1825,
written in 1882, includes Mrs. Radcliffe, but omits Jane Austen.
