Inspector George Gently: Series One (DVD, Boxed set)

All three episodes from the first series of the detective crime drama set in the early 1960s, with Martin Shaw as Inspector George Gently, and Lee Ingleby as his partner DS John Bacchus. After a life spent hunting down the denizens of London's underworld, Inspector Gently has his world rocked by the murder of his wife by notorious gangster Joe Webster (Philip Davis). Considering retirement, he receives news of the murder of a young motorcyclist in Northumberland that bears striking similarities to the handiwork of Webster. Deciding to take on the case and bring his wife's killer to justice, Gently moves north, teaming up with partner-in-a-hurry, DS Bacchus. Episodes comprise: 'Gently Go Man', 'The Burning Man' and 'Bomber's Moon'.
