When the British group Matchbox formed in 1971, rockabilly music
was already a nostalgia trip, destined for at least two popular
revivals and timeless hipster cachet. That the band has remained
intact for over 35 years is a testament to the great, simple music
and to the excellent musical and personal rapport of the band
members, which shines through every track on this two-volume
retrospective. Volume One includes rockin' originals and covers
'50s hits like "Carol" and "Shake, Rattle, and Roll."
