Braveheart (DVD)

In Braveheart, as a boy, William Wallace witnesses a brutal execution of his Scottish countrymen by the order of England's cruel King Edward the Longshanks (Patrick McGoohan). This defining moment marks the beginning of Wallace's (Gibson) dedication to the struggle for Scottish independence. Returning from an education abroad, Wallace falls in love with the beautiful Murron (Catherine McCormack) and the two are wed in secret, to avoid the barbaric English law that allows a nobleman to take a Scottish bride from her husband on her wedding night. Murron is shortly accused of a false crime and killed by an English magistrate. Now bitterly hardened against his oppressors, and fueled by his secret romance with Princess Isabelle (Sophie Marceau), Wallace vows to lead his fellow Scots in a unified revolt against Longshanks and his army.
