Dexter - Season 4 (DVD, Boxed set)

The very first episode of season 4 is titled "Living the Dream", and sets out to show how married family life has "domesticated" Dexter into a seeming "suburbanite". But by the end of that first episode, Dexter is up to his elbows in trying to maintain his actual "killer"-facade!

All the supporting characters are back, and Special Agent Frank Lundy returns as well... which makes things kind of awkward for Debra, who despite being in a relationship with new beau Anton, finds old feelings for agent Lundy re-awakened. There are quite a few surprising secondary plotlines developing, but the major one this season is Dexter's new nemesis.. the "Trinity" killer, played with insane gusto and skill by veteran comedian John Lithgow. He is Dexter's most formidable adversary, and the chess-play between the two is thrillingly segued into an "all-too-brief" 12 episodes that will sadden you once it's ended (after indeed keeping you on the edge of your seat).

Season 3 was good... but credit where it's due: season 4 blows it out of the water! (5 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)
