The Weather Bureau was originally developed to take meteorological
observations at the inland military stations, then alert the Great
Lakes and our coasts when major storms were coming. After being
part of the United States Army Signal Corps, the bureau jumped for
a little less than a century until finally becoming what is now
known as the National Weather Service. This is an annual report
written to summarize what happened with the weather during that
particular year.
