In 2005, Pam Stucky toured the Republic of Ireland by bus for
seventeen days, logging dozens of hours on public transportation as
she traveled to Galway, Inishmore, Doolin, Dingle, Kinsale, Cashel,
Kilkenny, Glendalough, and Dublin. In this short travelogue, Pam
shares the tales of her adventures, from nearly losing her wallet
in Galway, to being mistaken for a local on Inishmore, to swaying
home from a pub late at night, supporting three drunkenly singing
senior citizens in Doolin. In Inishmore, she conspired with a local
to rent a bike for free; in Cashel, she managed to get herself
locked inside her B&B room; at Newgrange, she peered back
through the veil of time. She chatted with locals, braved a haunted
fort, and bore witness to some of the country's most important
history. Through it all, she was always on the hunt for internet
cafes from which to send home her stories.
