The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) provides a broad range of
national expertise in geography, geology, hydrology, and biology.
The mission of the USGS is to provide reliable scientific
information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of

water, biological, and mineral resources; and enhance and protect

food, energy, medicine, transportation, and recreation.
