Diese Studie stellt zunachst die Grundlagen und gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen barrierefreier Informationstechnik sowie deren soziale, wirtschaftliche und organisatorische Auswirkungen fur Bibliotheken dar. Den Hauptteil bildet ein Uberblick uber die Anforderungen, die Bibliotheken bei der Gestaltung eines barrierefreien Internetangebots berucksichtigen mussen, und uber die sich dabei ergebenden speziellen Problemfelder. Hinweise fur die praktische Umsetzung runden die Studie ab. The accessibility of their Web sites is a challenge getting increasingly important for libraries in Germany. In the first part, this study describes foundations and legal conditions of barrier-free information technology as well as its social, economic, and organisational effects on libraries. The main part deals with the requirements a librarys Web site has to meet in order to be accessible and with the specific difficulties library staff may encounter when creating an accessible Web presence.
