Ralph Hodgson, although becoming first popular in the Georgian
period, actually transcends Georgeiana. He wrote strong and
relevant poetry displaying an epigrammatic and lyrical power. His
sympathy for nature and animals will resonate with the modern
reader. The 'Song of Honour' can be compared to Christopher Smart,
and 'The Bull' to John Clare's work.
