evolved after the author studied a species under stress. It is
considered Great by many readers and has a surprise ending. So
don't peek. The Hut, the first story written by the author, is a
response to the observation that man works too much and isn't aware
of happenings around him. The abundance of detail allows you to
feel the theme. The Fornicator is a good work of art-not something
else. Mr. Applebuy's Crossing is a funny alibi. Note the picture at
the end. The Conversation increases awareness of a shady lifestyle
and leaves the reader wanting more. Breakfast at Penny's will hold
an audience with the right actors playing the farcical characters.

upset. The author visited his place of childhood in Montauk, Long
