1928. The life of Emily Jane Bronte is based chiefly upon the
internal evidence of her poems. From a family of English novelists,
Emily is best known for her novel "Wuthering Heights." This book
does not purport to be a last word upon Bronte's history. The
author did not know all the events by any means that befell her,
not absolutely the order of those recorded within. He knew the main
lines of her character, the most important part of her history.
