Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi (1207-73) was a 13th-century Persian
poet, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic originally from

but also the literary traditions of the Ottoman Turkish, Chagatai,
Urdu, Bengali and Pashto languages.
