A charming and intriguing tale for all children of tooth-losing
age, just the right length and style for early readers, or perfect
as a bedtime story. Jessica goes to visit her gran to tell her
she's just losing a tooth. Jessica's gran isn't like most grannies
- she's wearing a cowboy suit and practising line dancing when
Jessica arrives, and on hearing the news they both celebrate with
pink 'champagne' in proper champagne glasses. Then Gran tells
Jessica a story she was sworn many years ago never to tell, until
she has a grandchild who loses a tooth. It's all about Gran's first
lost tooth, and how at four in the morning she wakes to see a tiny
figure outside her window. The figure tries to fly in but bumps her
head on the glass. It's a trainee tooth fairy, and she just can't
help but get everything wrong, landing her and Gran in pretty deep
trouble. After some adventures in Real Tooth Land, Gran solved the
problem for both of them, received a shiny new penny for her tooth,
and is here to tell the tale. A neat little ending reinforces
Gran's story that night when Jessica waits for her own tooth fairy.
(Kirkus UK)
She was a hopeless tooth fairy.
A troublesome, trainee tooth fairy.
When Jessica loses her first tooth, Granny tells her to watch out for a trainee tooth fairy. That shimmering little creature might look the part in her purple and silver outfit but she's not too sure of her job. As Granny knows, the trainee tooth fairy has been known to whisk away more than just the lost tooth...
Jessica and her granny, stars of UNUSUAL DAY, are back in another entertaining story from popular writer, comedian and broadcaster, Sandi Toksvig.
