A fusion of watercolour and gouache, Schmincke Horadam Naturals are made exclusively using natural earth pigments, plant extracts, or plant resins. The range is 100% vegan and features 16 colours based on historical and naturally derived pigments.

Horadam Naturals have a matt finish and offer an authentic character. Colours are mostly semi-transparent with good lightfastness (15 colours with 3-5 stars lightfastness). They can be mixed and combined with watercolour and gouache and used straight from the tube or diluted with water.

The aspiration for a vegan and naturally formulated watercolour and gouache fusion has led to properties distinguishing this paint from a pure watercolour or gouache. It therefore takes a certain amount of familiarisation and understanding of the characteristics that define these colours. The natural pigments used in this range are sometimes slightly coarser in texture which results in a rougher, slightly granular surface effect. The consistency of the paints is a little thicker, so the colours do not flow as easily as watercolour and are more like gouache. Anyone who makes use of these distinctive properties will quickly learn to appreciate the special nature of the Naturals range.
