Zack And Miri Make A Porno (Blu-ray disc)

While this movie features Kevin Smith's trademark raunchy wit and humour, there are quite a few sweet and tender moments, and to be brutally honest, the switch between the two isn't always the smoothest.

The first half of the movie is flat-out hilarious as our main characters, Zack and Miri, experience major cash-flow problems and decide to produce a pornographic film to ease their financial burdens. Of course, the situation is just ripe for chaos and hilarity to ensue, especially in the process in which they hold auditions to assemble their cast and the way they start filming with a Star Wars theme. Unfortunately, the second half becomes a bit too syrupy and saccharine, as the inevitable cliches all fall into place.

The performances are good, with Rogen pulling off the "lovable loser" with laidback charm. The best comic performances though, come from some hilarious supporting cast members, Jason Mewes (the usual Silent Bob) as a wanna-be adult film star, and Justin Long (in the film's best scene) as the aggrieved boyfriend of Brandon Routh (yes, he of Superman Returns).

It's still a very funny movie of course, don't get me wrong, I just think it could have been so much better. (3 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

Lifelong platonic friends Zack and Miri look to solve their respective cashflow problems by making an adult film together.

As the cameras roll, however, things quickly get complicated... and hilarious!

And to top it all off, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.
