Luke is an intelligent border collie who excels at communicating with his handler, Sister Mary Foley, a School Sister of Notre Dame. Sister Mary lived and worked with Luke for more than thirteen years. His gentle spirit led them to become members of Therapy Dogs International. When not accompanying Luke on his adventures, Sister Mary is a licensed clinical social worker ministering at the Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest, New Jersey. Sister Mary is a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Atlantic Midwest Province. Maverick McCarthy, the illustrator, is from Mahwah, NJ. She was a senior at the Academy of the Holy Angels, class of 2016, when she illustrated this book.
