The rice spoon, or shamoji in Japanese, is a large flat spoon used to stir and serve rice. The Japanese name literally means “rice paddle”, and this is reflected in the shape. The little nodules on the surface are a welcome addition to the traditional utensil, as they prevent the rice from sticking to the spoon. Of course, the rice spoon can also be used for other grainy foods, such as couscous, polenta or millet. And it works wonderfully for ice-cream, too. The STAUB rice spoon is part of the new utensils range that completes our assortment of kitchenware. It is made from black matte silicone, which is very heat-resistant and suitable for non-stick surfaces. For rice and other cereals, this is better than a metal spoon because it damages fewer grains. The ergonomic handle is made from acacia wood and has a hole for hanging storage.
