After coming home, the aftermath of war is brutal, as one lone
warrior soon finds out. The banality of civilian life combined with
the torturous reoccurring nightmares, drives him to seek refuge in
the bottle. Being a hero doesn't wash the blood off his hands.
Sleep provides little solace as the souls of his confirmed kills
march their way through his dream time. War madness takes it's
toll. The vision of burning bodies and the smell of gun powder
leave indelible marks on the spirit of the man. The spirit of
suicide dogs his every step as it whispers it's death song in his
ear. Every warrior sacrifices his innocence to do and see things
he'd rather forget. The love of family and the loyalty to his
nation compel him to take a stand. Yet, often times, the
consequences are long lasting. To ease his pain, the warrior seeks
oblivion. Yet, the spirit called alcohol exacts a heavy price. In
exchange for oblivion, the firewater spirit comes to collect it's
due: Spirit for Spirit. Many lonesome warriors pay with their
lives. Battle scarred, alone and hungry, this drunken warrior is
saved from the jaws of death by a stranger. Together, they find
healing through an ancient warrior ceremony and the Twelve Steps.
This story is a fictional account of true happenings. It is a gift
of healing and love for every wounded warrior. Blessings on your
walk.
