More a heart-warming comedy-drama than laugh-a-minute picture per se: let’s see that we understand the title. The “hog” was the nickname for a certain model Harley-Davidson motorcycle from the 1920’s. More recently, it has become an acronym for “Harley Owners’ Group.”
Four middle-aged Cincinnati men, former college students together, find themselves dissatisfied with their lot in life…so climb on their bikes and hit the road for the Pacific. Woody (John Travolta) is a formerly rich businessman who is now bankrupt and whose wife has left him. Doug (Tim Allen) is a dentist who can no longer connect with either his wife or son. Bobby (Martin Lawrence) is a plumber and wannabe writer, whose wife mercilessly dominates him; while Dudley is a computer nerd who simply needs a girlfriend in his life.
Outside the town of Madrid in New Mexico, they encounter a tough motorcycle gang – the Del Fuegos; led by steely-eyed Jack (Ray Liotta) – and this is where the story really kicks into gear. Dudley, in the mean-time has fallen in love with Maggie (Marisa Tomei) who owns the town’s bar – which is often valdalised by the Del Fuegos.
Watch for Peter Fonda right at the end, as “Blade.”
Comedy adventure about four middle-aged bikers trying to regain
their youth. Woody (John Travolta), convinces his three buddies to
take a road trip from Cincinatti to Mexico to escape their mundane
existence. Finally arriving in New Mexico, they stop off at a bar,
not realising that it belongs to the 'Del Fuegos', a local biker
gang. When Dudley (William H. Macy) has his bike stolen by the
leader of the rival gang, Woody decides to get it back,
accidentally blowing up the bar in the process. With the 'Del
Fuegos' in hot pursuit, it's not long before the 'Wild Hogs' are
cornered, and have to make a stand.
