Missiology, the study of missions, has not always had a firm place
amongst the major theological disciplines. But since the Church in
Africa is largely built on missions, an understanding thereof
depends on an appreciation of how the history of European and
American missionary activities came to define the African Church.
This book considers the missionary movements from a Malawian
perspective. It considers the major periods of Christian expansion,
the interaction of Islam and Christianity, and, more recently, the
role of the missionaries in the struggle against HIV/AIDS.
