The sixth instalment of this gruesome movie franchise fares much better than the last few which were released. The plotting is more intricate and surprising, and the performances are also a step up. It still can't come close to part 1 and part 3, which I feel were the best ones, but it's a definite improvement on 4 and 5.
The way the plot ties into the Saw mythos is deftly handled and springs lots of surprises along the way. The gore factor is still suitably high though, and the traps set this time around are very ingenious. It's amazing how the writers come up with all of it on a regular basis.
The producers have promised that there will be two more chapters to come, to finish off the complete story. I for one cannot wait to see how it all pans out eventually. Thrilling. (4 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)
Special Agent Strahm is dead and Detective Hoffman has been exposed as Jigsaw's undisputed replacement.
