INTRODUCTION Few researchers have made more headway in the field of ethnobotanical medicine than Dr. James A Duke. His seminal work 'The Green Pharmacy' transcended folk medicine beyond the domain of speculation by using modern, scientific spectroscopy to analyze biochemical compositions in natural medicine; while at the same time juxtaposing plant expedients with contemporary medical research, setting high standards for the future of holistic pharmacopoeia.
