This book records the proceedings of a symposium held in
conjunction with the 1988 exhibition of the Philip Hofer bequest to
the Department of Printing and Graphic Arts at Houghton Library.
Contributors include William H. Bond, Charles Ryskamp, Arthur
Vershbow, William Bentinck-Smith, and Lucien Goldschmidt. Their
recollections of one of Harvard College Library's most generous
donors provide a fascinating portrait of one of America's great
bibliophiles.
