Javier Hernandez Balcazar is a Mexican footballer who plays as a forward for English Premier League club Manchester United and the Mexican national team. Hernandez plays with his nickname, Chicharito (Spanish: little pea), on his shirt. He previously played for the Mexican club Guadalajara, before becoming the first Mexican player to join Manchester United. Hernandez made his debut for Mexico in September 2009 in a match against Colombia. He has also represented them at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He was the Gold Cup's top scorer with 7 goals and was named the most valuable player of the tournament Manchester United Manchester United were first made aware of Hernandez in October 2009; a scout went to Mexico that December and reported positively after watching a few games. Because of Hernandez's age, the club originally planned to wait before making a move to sign him, but his potential involvement with the national team at the World Cup rushed the club into making a bid. United's chief scout, Jim Lawlor, was sent to Mexico for three weeks in February and March to watch Hernandez and filed another positive report on him, before the club solicitor went over to Mexico to finalise the paperwork. On 8 April 2010, Hernandez agreed a deal to sign for Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, subject to a work permit application. The previous day, Hernandez had been present at Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich at Old Trafford. The deal was conducted in complete secrecy; Hernandez's agent was kept in the dark, as was his grandfather Tomas Balcazar, who thought Hernandez was going on a trip to Atlanta in the United States. As part of the deal, United played a friendly against Chivas to open their new stadium on 30 July. On 27 May, the work permit was granted, allowing the transfer to be made official on 1 July. 2012-13 season Hernandez began his third season with United on 2 September 2012, coming on as a 72nd minute substitute for Danny Welbeck in a 3-2 win against Southampton. On 15 September, he was named in the starting eleven for the match against Wigan Athletic, playing all 90 minutes and scoring his first goal of the season, as well as assisting in teammate Nick Powell's goal in a 4-0 victory. He did however miss a penalty in the 5th minute, when his effort was saved by Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.
Carlos Tevez is an Argentinian footballer who plays as a forward for Manchester City. Despite his stocky build Tevez’ agility and pace have enabled him to become a natural goalscorer and provider at every club he has played for. Tevez started his career with Boca Juniors before moving to Brazilian side Corinthians. In 2006, he and countryman Javier Mascherano made shock moves to West Ham after shining at the 2006 World Cup. Tevez scored 7 goals in 26 appearances for West Ham in 2006/07 and his goals were vital to keeping them in the Premier League. His move to West Ham was surrounded with controversy however. His third party ownership meant that West Ham had to pay 5 million compensation to Sheffield United who were relegated that season In August 2007 Tevez joined Manchester United and made his debut replacing Wayne Rooney in a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth. He scored his first goal for United in a win against Chelsea. In Tevez’ two seasons at United, he won the Premier League twice and the Champions League once. However in the summer of 2009, Tevez’ advisors informed United that Tevez wanted to leave the club and left for arch rivals Manchester City for 25 million. This move made him the first player since 1999 to transfer between the two Manchester clubs. Manchester City had recently been bought by billionaire Sheikh Mansour and Tevez helped City to first win the FA Cup in 2011 and then the Premier League in dramatic fashion last season. At City he has formed a formidable strike partnership with countryman Sergio Aguero which is feared by most Premier League defences. Ever since playing for Boca Juniors, Tevez has been known for his unusual goal celebrations. While at Manchester United he put a dummy in his mouth to commemorate the birth of his daughter and at Manchester City he is known for the ‘rock the baby goal celebration’. Argentina Tevez has played for Argentina 62 times and scored 13 goals to date including three at the World Cup. His first goal was scored in the Copa America against Peru. Tevez also scored eight in Argentina’s 2004 triumph at the Olympics. Internationally, our maturing leader again missed out on the England captaincy despite Terry being stripped of the armband due to personal indiscretions. However, an injury to Fabio Capello's choice Rio Ferdinand meant it was Gerrard who led England in South Africa 2010, scoring in the opener against USA before a 4-1 last 16 exit to Germany. He returned to Merseyside to find the landscape much altered: Rafael Benitez had gone, replaced for the time being at least by Roy Hodgson, and over the coming months the ownership of Liverpool Football Club would change following a courtroom battle between duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett and newcomers NESV.
