Patterns can be any number of items that occur repeatedly, whether in the behaviour of animals, humans, traffic, or even in the appearance of a design. As technologies continue to advance, recognizing, mimicking, and responding to all types of patterns becomes more precise. Pattern Recognition and Classification in Time Series Data focuses on intelligent methods and techniques for recognizing and storing dynamic patterns. Emphasizing topics related to artificial intelligence, pattern management, and algorithm development, in addition to practical examples and applications, this publication is an essential reference source for graduate students, researchers, and professionals in a variety of computer-related disciplines.
This volume brings together contributions that explore the philosophy of Franz Brentano. It looks at his work both critically and in the context of contemporary philosophy. For instance, Brentano influenced the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl, the theory of objects of Alexius Meinong, the early development of the Gestalt theory, the philosophy of language of Anton Marty, the works of Carl Stumpf in the psychology of tone, and many others. Readers will also learn the contributions of Brentano's work to much debated contemporary issues in philosophy of mind, ontology, and the theory of emotions. The first section deals with Brentano's conception of the history of philosophy. The next approaches his conception of empirical psychology from an empirical standpoint and in relation with competing views on psychology from the period. The third section discusses Brentano's later programme of a descriptive psychology or "descriptive phenomenology" and some of his most innovative developments, for instance in the theory of emotions. The final section examines metaphysical issues and applications of his mereology. His reism takes here an important place. The intended readership of this book comprises phenomenologists, analytic philosophers, philosophers of mind and value, as well as metaphysicians. It will appeal to both graduate and undergraduate students, professors, and researchers in philosophy and psychology.
The aim of this book is to unlock the power of the freeware R language to advanced university students and researchers dealing with whole-rock geochemistry of (meta-) igneous rocks. The first part covers data input/output, calculation of commonly used indexes and plotting in R. The core of the book then focusses on the presentation and practical implementations of modelling techniques used for fingerprinting processes such as partial melting, fractional crystallization, binary mixing or AFC using major-, trace-element and radiogenic isotope data. The reader will be given a firm theoretical basis for forward/reverse modelling, followed by exercises dealing with typical problems likely to be encountered in real life, and their solutions using R. The concluding sections demonstrate, using practical examples, how a researcher can proceed in developing a realistic model simulating natural systems. The appendices outline the fundamentals of the R language and provide a quick introduction to the open-source R-package GCDkit for interpretation of whole-rock geochemical data from igneous and metamorphic rocks.

Respectably old radical chemistry which plays a rna jor role in life-processes, both desired (breathing, ...) and non-desired (in- flammatory diseases, ageing, ...) has been gaining new youth in the past decade. Modern spectroscopy and other physical methods, recent advances in computational methods as well as impressive and mechanistically well-understood syntheses have led to a number of spectacular deve- lopments in the field of radical chemistry. The impact of these achi- evements will reach far beyond the field of organic chemistry, for example into biology and medicine. New facts and concepts in this rapidly expanding field deserved discussion among a number of leading experts present at the Workshop both for the information and constructive criticism. This happened during a particular brainstorming session and some of the impressions and reflections exchanged are recorded in the Epilogue. Indeed the topic chosen seems to be quintessential for the whole radical chemistry understanding and exploiting (single and multiple) substituent effects on radicals. We had the honour to organise this Workshop because some years ago, in collaboration with L. Stella, we became involved in radical stabi- lising effects when both a donor and an acceptor (captor) groups are present on a C-radical. This leads to an enhanced stabilisation which we called the captodative effect and we have endeavoured the first extensi ve investigation of this effect on carbon centered radicals.
* This is the only up-to-date book on the market that covers Flash mobile application development. * Evidence of demand - large companies such as Nokia and Samsung are Flash-enabling their phones. * The book will support the new FlashLite version available with the next version of Flash, released later on this year.

Doug Janousek, Union Point's resident personal chef and cookbook author, is excited that his his long-awaited art and recipes book, Home Cookin' Illustrated, is ready. The book features interviews with the participating artists, personalized menus and recipes, and original artwork. "I think the concept for this book is really different and intriguing," he said. "Talking with the artists and getting their take on food, as well as on their art was just amazing." The artists include painters from Augusta to Athens, Eatonton, Union Point, Greensboro, Watkinsville and Oxford who work in acrylics, watercolors, pastels, oils and a variety of mixed media. Janousek created personalized menus for each artist and came up with his recipe versions from a variety of cuisines including a Mediterranean mezze, or buffet, for Union Point artist Anne Jenkins; an Irish-inspired menu for cover artist Lillie Morris of Evans; a Hungarian/Slavic styled menu for Lake Oconee area artist Mev Rozsman, as well as several other food styles like Low Country South, Southwestern fare and his upscale tasting menu, "33 Bites to Fulfillment," he served last Spring at The Washington Grass Inn with executive chef Gloria Slaughter. Lake Country artists include Jenkins of Union Point and Rozsman, as well as Cameron Hampton of the Hampton Fine Art Gallery, Jan Whyllson, Nan McGarity of the Historic Mill Studio, Judy Phlegar and Gail Vail. Also taking part in the project is Darlene Simmemon of Eatonton, Will Eskridge of Athens, JoAnn Kolbus of Watkinsville, Margaret Warfield of Oxford, and from the Augusta area, Gail Smith and Lillie Morris of the Broadstrokes Gallery in Evans. Rounding out the book is a chapter and menu with Matt Garofalo of The Oconee Cellar. Matt provides wine pairings for most of the menus as well as tips on how to do a tasting in your own home.
Twelve Seasons Under the Florida Sun is as much about the chefs who contributed to it as it is the food they cook. Formal dinners, summer picnics, holiday buffets - the meals here run the gamut and every reader is sure to find something that appeals to their taste buds. Whether an experienced restaurant chef, a school-trained culinarian, a career-changer or just a life-long cook, the chefs in this book give you a glimpse into what drives them and what inspires them, as well as tips and clear instructions on how to re-create their dishes in your own kitchen or if you prefer, a way to reach them to allow them to do it for you. Fresh, high quality ingredients combined with experience and the proper technique, served to you with style and personality by eight different personal chefs who have very individual approaches to their menus. Seasonal cooking is about using what's good and fresh and available right now. Not frozen, not canned, not grown somewhere else and shipped in. This really isn't a new concept; home cooks with gardens have cooked with what was available for generations. Cooks without a home garden can find high-quality ingredients at the supermarket and if they are willing to drive a tiny bit farther and find one of those roadside produce markets, they can cook with local flavor without any of the weeding. Personal chefing is, well, personal and it varies from chef to chef as well as from client to client. This book and these recipes within give you a glimpse into the inner workings of the chefs as they build a meal for you. See you in the kitchen
