Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
Public Reason and Courts is an interdisciplinary study of public
reason and courts with contributions from leading scholars in legal
theory, political philosophy and political science. The book's
chapters demonstrate the breadth of ways in which public reason and
public justification is currently seen as relevant for adjudicative
reasoning and review practices, and includes critical assessments
of different ways that the idea of public reason has been applied
to courts. It shows that public reason is not just an abstract
theoretical concept used by political philosophers, but an idea
that spurs new perspectives and normative frameworks also for legal
scholars and judges. In particular, the book demonstrates the
potential, and the limitations, of the idea of public reason as a
source of legitimacy for courts, in a context where many courts
face political backlashes and crisis of trust.
Global Constitutionalism argues that parts of international law can
be understood as being grounded in the rule of law and human
rights, and insists that international law can and should be
interpreted and progressively developed in the direction of greater
respect for and realization of those principles. Global
Constitutionalism has been discussed primarily by European
scholars. Yet without the engagement of scholars from other parts
of the world, the universalist claims underlying Global
Constitutionalism ring hollow. This is particularly true with
regard to East Asia, where nearly half the world's population and a
growing share of global economic and military capacities are
located. Are East Asian perspectives on Global Constitutionalism
similar to European perspectives? Against the background of current
power shifts in international law, this book constitutes the first
cross-cultural work on various facets of Global Constitutionalism
and elaborates a more nuanced concept that fits our times.
This work covers field programmable gate array (FPGA)-specific
optimizations of circuits computing the multiplication of a
variable by several constants, commonly denoted as multiple
constant multiplication (MCM). These optimizations focus on low
resource usage but high performance. They comprise the use of fast
carry-chains in adder-based constant multiplications including
ternary (3-input) adders as well as the integration of look-up
table-based constant multipliers and embedded multipliers to get
the optimal mapping to modern FPGAs. The proposed methods can be
used for the efficient implementation of digital filters, discrete
transforms and many other circuits in the domain of digital signal
processing, communication and image processing.

Ihnen
allen gebuhrt daher aufrichtigster Dank. Gottingen, Juli 1930. E.
