The presence of expatriate humanitarian workers in African cities is not neutral. Country capitals receive large and sudden influx of expatriates during humanitarian crises responses. This book examines the influence of this presence on the local urban ecosystem, from the building of a security discourse to the self-segregation of aid agencies in expatriate enclaves. The examples of Abidjan, Bamako, Juba and Nairobi illustrate different variants of urban change induced by the normative power of aid organisations.

It starts with a historical description to understand how the different aspects of our knowledge about the neutrinos evolved up to the present state. The main required elements of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions are introduced, and the different neutrino interactions and detection techniques are presented. We introduce the various ways to give neutrinos a mass and the phenomenon of neutrino oscillations which provides the main evidence for non-vanishing neutrino masses. We then consider the neutrinos produced in the Sun, what we have learned from them, and how they can also be useful to study our star. The geoneutrinos produced by the radioactivity in the Earth are discussed and the status of their detection is presented. We then examine the cosmological neutrino background, its impact on Big Bang nucleosynthesis and on the CMB observations, with the associated bound on their masses and effective number. In the last decade, research on negative social evaluations, from adverse reputation to extreme stigmatization, has burgeoned both at the individual and organizational level. Thus far, this research has largely focused on major corporate risks. Corporate public relations and business executives intuitively know that a negative image deters important relationships—from customers and partners, to applicants, stakeholders, and potential funding. At the same time, business is conducted in an age of heightened connection, including digital platforms for criticism and a 24-hour news cycle. Executives know that some degree of public disapproval is increasingly unavoidable. Negative social evaluations can also put social actors on the map. In the era of identity politics, many political leaders express controversial views to appeal to specific audiences and gain in popularity. Through network and signaling effects, being controversial can potentially pay off. Thomas J. Roulet offers a framework for understanding not only how individuals and organizations can survive in an age of increasing scrutiny, but how negative social evaluations can surprisingly yield positive results. Die sekundaren, von der eigentlichen Erkrankung unabhangigen Gewebs veranderungen spielen an der Haut eine ganz andere Rolle als in inneren Organen, da sie den Eingriffen der Umwelt (Kratzen, Medikamente, Waschmittel, Traumen) ausgesetzt ist. In der Haut, wie in jedem Organ, greifen die verschiedenen Funktionsablaufe ineinander, eine Stoerung loest die andere aus.

Das vorliegende Buch soll, nach dem Wunsch des Springer-Verlages, das bekannte Werk von G. SCHMORL "Die pathologisch-histologischen Unter- suchungsmethoden" ersetzen, welches aus verschiedenen Grunden nicht mehr verlegt wird. Infolgedessen wurde mein Buch zum grossen Teil in Anlehnung an Schmorls Werk geschrieben. Viele Abschnitte sind allerdings nach anderen Gesichtspunkten verfasst worden; die Fortschritte der letzten Jahre auf dem Gebiete der histologischen Untersuchungsmethoden brachten es mit sich, dass eine grosse Zahl neuer und zuverlassiger Methoden berucksichtigt werden mussten. Ich habe mich bemuht, nur solche Methoden zu beschreiben, die mich im Laufe der Jahre befriedigt haben und mit denen man unter optimalen Be- dingungen brauchbare Ergebnisse erhalten kann. Diesbezuglich wird sich aller- dings in Zukunft manches noch andern mussen, weil die verschiedenen Farb- stoffe, mit denen gearbeitet wurde, zur Zeit nicht immer erhaltlich sind. Es wird sich zeigen, inwieweit die neuen Produkte der chemischen Industrie die uns bekannten Farbstoffe zu ersetzen vermoegen. Aus diesem Grunde ist es moeglich, dass die eine oder andere Methode den Untersucher nicht sofort be- friedigen wird; er sollte nicht von vorneherein eine solche Methode verurteilen, sondern aus eigenem Antrieb versuchen, mit den ihm zur Verfugung stehenden Mitteln, auf Grund der Angaben dieses Buches, ein brauchbares Verfahren herau'lzuarbeiten. Eine Prufung aller neuen Farbstoffe war mir schlechter- dings noch nicht moeglich; so besitze ich beispielsweise keinerlei Erfahrung mit amerikanischen Farben. Allen, die mir mit technischer Hilfe beigestanden haben, sage ich herzlichen Dank.

1m urspriinglichen Entwurf dieses Handbuchs vor zwei Jahrzehnten hatten wir geplant, dem Band II "Die Zelle" in Band III die allgemeine Pathologie der "Zwischensubstanzen, Gewebe und Organe" folgen zu lassen. Aus vielfachen Er- fahrungen ist diese strenge Zasur zwischen den Zellen und den Zwischensubstanzen heute nicht mehr aufrecht zu halten. Das gilt besonders yom Nervensystem in seinen normalen und krankhaft veranderlen Strukturen. So sind wir HERMANN HAGER besonders dankbar, daB er im ersten Beitrag dieses Bandes: "Allgemeine morphologische Pathologie des Nervensystems" von der unauflosbaren Einheit der cellularen und zwischenzelligen Strukturen des Nervensystems in Orlhologie und Pathologie ausgegangen ist. Erstmals wieder seit SPIELMEYERS "Histopathologie des Nervensystems" von 1922 werden hier die Strukturelemente des Nervensystems unter den Prinzipien der allgemeinen Patho- logie dargestellt, diesmal vor allem auch die Veranderungen der Feinstrukturen im elektronenmikroskopischen Bild. Unter dem Leitmotiv "Organstruktur als Grundlage der Organleistung und Organerkrankung" schlieBt sich der Beitrag von HUGO NOETZEL tiber "Das zentrale und periphere N ervensystem" an; er veranschaulicht die Bedeutung des Bauplans des Nervensystems fUr seine Pathologie an einer Reihe typischer Er- krankungen. Die Vereinigung dieser beiden Beitrage im gleichen Bandteil rechtferligt sich nicht zuletzt durch das allgemeine groBe theoretische und praktische Interesse fUr die morphologische Pathologie des Nervensystems in unseren Tagen. Moge der Band unter den Gesichtspunkten der allgemeinen Pathologie zu einem vertiefteren Verstandnis dieses Systems und seiner Orthologie und Patho- logie beitragen.
