Organic Syntheses Based on Name Reactions - A Practical Guide to Over 800 Transformations (Hardcover, 3rd edition): A. Hassner,... Organic Syntheses Based on Name Reactions - A Practical Guide to Over 800 Transformations (Hardcover, 3rd edition)
A. Hassner, I. Namboothiri
R1,513 Discovery Miles 15 130 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

"Organic Syntheses Based on Named Reactions" is an indispensable reference companion for chemistry students and researchers. Building on Hassner & Stumer s highly regarded 2e, this new work reviews 750 reactions, with over 100 new stereoselective and regioselective reactions. Each A-Z entry provides a carefully condensed summary of valuable information that a chemist needs to understand and utilize these fundamental reactions in their work, including brief practical details. The book is illustrated with real synthetic examples from the literature and about 3,400 references to the primary literature to aid further reading. Extensive indexes (name, reagent, reaction) and a very useful functional group transformation index help the reader fully navigate this extensive collection of important reactions. With its comprehensive coverage, superb organization and quality of presentation, this long-awaited new edition belongs on the shelf of every organic chemist.
Handy reference guide that explains 750 established named processes and methods that are trusted and used by organic chemists to synthesize or transform moleculesProvides key data on each transformation including background, mechanism and--uniquely to books in this area--experimental detailsExtensive and multiple indexes allow the reader to search for information as and how they want and to rapidly plan transformations"

Since the publication of "Organic Syntheses Based on Name Reactions and Unnamed Reactions"(Volume 11 in the Tetrahedron Organic Chemistry series), there has been a proliferation of discoveries of name reactions in the field of organic chemistry. Hence, this, the second, revised, edition of the text has focused on the ongoing development in this area of research. The revised title reflects the notion whereby many new reagents and reactions are now being referred to by their names. The inclusion of over 155 new stereoselective and regioselective reagents or reactions including asymmetric syntheses, brings the total to over 540. Features that should be valuable to the reader include over 3000 references, a names index, reagent index, reaction index and a functional group transformation index. The latter of these indexes will allow the reader to search for conversions of one functional group to another and has proved a much utilized tool for the synthetic chemist, searching for pathways to perform synthetic procedures.

Stereoselective Heterocyclic Synthesis III (Hardcover, 2001 ed.): Peter Metz Stereoselective Heterocyclic Synthesis III (Hardcover, 2001 ed.)
Peter Metz; Contributions by A. Hassner, P.Ten Holte, I.N.N. Namboothiri, U. Nubbemeyer, …

Keeping up with the advances in modern heterocyclic chemistry is essential for many of our colleagues in academia and industry. It is the aim of this series on "Stereoselective Heterocyclic Synthesis" to assist the chemical community in this respect by presenting a selection of exciting recent developments. As it was for the first two volumes (1997), the stereoselective synthesis of - or with the aid of - heterocycles is the common motif for all the chapters in this third volume. I am very glad that again leading researchers in this area have contrib- ed highly stimulating accounts with up-to-date coverage. "Stereoselective Heterocyclic Synthesis 111" features chapters on "Stereoselective Intramolecular J,3-Dipolar Cycloadditions" by I. N. N. Nambothiiri and A. Hassner giving an in depth survey of the generation and synthetic application of valuable 1,3-dipoles,"4-Acetoxy- and 4-Cyano-12-dioxanes in Synthesis" by C. J. Sinz and S. D. Rychnovsky presenting a comprehensive summary of the utility of the versatile title compounds in natural products synthesis,"The Synthetic Potential of Three-Membered Ring Aza-Heterocycles" by B. Zwanenburg and l? ten Holte highlighting the fascinating chemistry of aziridine and azirine carboxylic esters, and '(Synthesis of Medium-Sized Ring Lactams" by U. Nubbemeyer discussing a wide range of modern strategies for the stereoselective preparation of these important heterocycles. I wish to express my thanks to all contributors for their dedicated effort and to Mrs. Kollmar-Thoni, Springer-Verlag, for her continuous support. Enantioselective synthetic methods are not only in the forefront of chemical and pharmaceutical research but activity in this area is constantly increasing. It is stimulated by the urgency to obtain drugs or compounds of medicinal interest as single anantiomers, and the keeness to synthesize natural products in nonracemic form. This volume presents seven chapters from pioneers and authorities in this rapidly expanding field.

The Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, since its inception, has been recognized as a cornerstone of heterocyclic chemistry. Each volume attempts to discuss all aspects - properties, synthesis, reactions, physiological and industrial significance - of a specific ring system. To keep the series up-to-date, supplementary volumes covering the recent literature on each individual ring system have been published. Many ring systems (such as pyridines and oxazoles) are treated in distinct books, each consisting of separate volumes or parts dealing with different individual topics. With all authors are recognized authorities, the Chemistry of Heterocyclic Chemistry is considered worldwide as the indispensable resource for organic, bioorganic, and medicinal chemists.
