Originally published in 1937, this book was written by the
pioneering British statistician and economist Arthur Lyon Bowley
(1869-1957). The text provides a statistical analysis of wages and
income in the United Kingdom from 1860 onwards, attempting 'to
bring into a coherent whole' the work carried out in this area by
Bowley during the preceding 40 years. A bibliography is included
and notes are incorporated throughout. This book will be of value
to anyone with an interest in wages, statistics and British
economic history.
