Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
The Pacific Symposium on Biocomputing (PSB) 2023 is an international, multidisciplinary conference for the presentation and discussion of current research in the theory and application of computational methods in problems of biological significance. Presentations are rigorously peer reviewed and are published in an archival proceedings volume. PSB 2023 will be held on January 3-7, 2023 in Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Tutorials and workshops will be offered prior to the start of the conference.PSB 2023 will bring together top researchers from the US, the Asian Pacific nations, and around the world to exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of computational biology. It is a forum for the presentation of work in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling, and other computational methods, as applied to biological problems, with emphasis on applications in data-rich areas of molecular biology. The PSB has been designed to be responsive to the need for critical mass in sub-disciplines within biocomputing. For that reason, it is the only meeting whose sessions are defined dynamically each year in response to specific proposals. PSB sessions are organized by leaders of research in biocomputing's 'hot topics.' In this way, the meeting provides an early forum for serious examination of emerging methods and approaches in this rapidly changing field.

After 20+ years of battling infertility, Lisa decided that it was time to share what she has learned. Through the past two decades she has heard it all, tried it all and has the puncture marks and surgery scars to prove it. If you are currently on the fertility merry-go-round, this book may help you to know that there really are people out there who understand what you are going through. If you have a loved one that is currently longing for that positive pregnancy test, use this book to learn what is helpful and what is hurtful during such an extremely emotional time. Lisa's journey may have lasted longer than some, partly because of how much she desperately longed for a child and partly because of how much she hates to fail at anything Being a credentialed minister taught Lisa that God had a plan and purpose that she could not see and did not always understand. During this time, she also learned how to be patient. God helped her turn her desire for a child into a desire to help others going through their fertility journey. Lisa wants to help families and friends understand how to be supportive without being condescending and how to be encouraging while still remaining genuine. And, of course, what NOT to say to someone NOT expecting

This international Handbook provides a comprehensive overview of key topics, debates and issues within the now well-established field of Knowledge Management (KM). With contributions from a range of highly-skilled authors, diverse and multi-disciplinary approaches towards KM are explored in this fantastic new reference work. Topics covered include performance, ethics, sustainability and cross-cultural management, making this an equally important read to academics and practitioners working in areas such as technology, education and engineering. By analysing how the field of KM has developed over the years, as well as presenting new methods to be implemented in the workplace, this Handbook outlines a research agenda for the future of organisational learning and innovation.
This book (hardcover) is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS. It contains classical literature works from over two thousand years. Most of these titles have been out of print and off the bookstore shelves for decades. The book series is intended to preserve the cultural legacy and to promote the timeless works of classical literature. Readers of a TREDITION CLASSICS book support the mission to save many of the amazing works of world literature from oblivion. With this series, tredition intends to make thousands of international literature classics available in printed format again - worldwide.
Decadent Poetics has gathered together some of the most important
scholars working in Victorian studies, with the ten essays here
exploring the complex and vexed topic of decadent literature's
formal characteristics. Invigorated by shifts in Victorian studies
over the past ten years, this collection interrogates previously
held assumptions around the nature of decadent form. The term
'poetics' conveys here not just the prosodic, but the
multiplicitous forms of cultural production across the fin de
siecle. From perfume to the post-human, theatre to attenuated
textualities, these essays explore the ways in which the literary
intersects with its others in the period. The range of writers
studied here moves from those who now constitute a decadent canon -
Oscar Wilde, 'Michael Field', Charles Baudelaire, Algernon Charles
Swinburne and Ernest Dowson - to those whose work still inhabits
the scholarly margins: A.E. Housman, Arthur Machen, Hubert
Crackanthorpe and Graham R. Tomson.
This celebrated study of witchcraft in Europe traces the worship of
the pre-Christian and prehistoric Horned God from paleolithic times
to the medieval period. Murray, the first to turn a scholarly eye
on the mysteries of witchcraft, enables us to see its existence in
the Middle Ages not as an isolated and terrifying phenomenon, but
as the survival of a religion nearly as old as humankind itself,
whose devotees held passionately to a view of life threatened by an
alien creed. The findings she sets forth, once thought of as
provocative and implausible, are now regarded as irrefutable by
folklorists and scholars in related fields. Exploring the rites and
ceremonies associated with witchcraft, Murray establishes the
concept of the "dying god"--the priest-king who was ritually killed
to ensure the country and its people a continuity of fertility and
strength. In this light, she considers such figures as Thomas a
Becket, Joan of Arc, and Gilles de Rais as spiritual leaders whose
deaths were ritually imposed.
Gastrointestinal motility has evolved from an esoteric laboratory tool into a sophisti cated diagnostic technique that is now widely used clinically to guide in management of complex gastrointestinal problems. Today, it is the most rapidly growing subspecialty within gastroenterology. Previously, many of the gastrointestinal motility problems were either ignored or attributed to a disturbance of "psyche." But with the growing knowledge and understanding of how a dysfunction of the gastrointestinal muscle and nerves can cause disease, we are at the threshold of a revolution in our approach to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal motility disorders. The purpose of this book is to serve as a useful, up-to-date reference manual and guide for the diagnostic and therapeutic approach towards common adult and pediatric gastrointestinal motility problems. In order to enhance the understanding of these disor ders, a problem-oriented approach has been chosen, and wherever possible the authors have provided clinical case scenarios to illustrate their message. The emphasis has been on how to diagnose and treat motility disorders rather than to provide an encyclopedic infor mation. The reference list at the end of each chapter should enable the enthusiast to seek further information. Some of the material presented in this book has been derived from the proceedings of the annual University ofIowa College of Medicine GI Motility Symposia."
