The chapters contained in this two-volume set provide a broad
perspective on the novel strategies and conceptual paradigms that
drive the current resurgence of interest in somitogenesis - the
process by which somites form and elaborate differentiated tissues
and structures. Because somites are a ubiquitous feature of
vertebrate embryos, they can be studied in a variety of
experimental animal models including those amenable to genetic
(zebrafish, mammalian), molecular/genetic (mammalian, avian) as
well as those already well established for classical experimental
embryological and cell biological studies (amphibians, avian). The
wide variety of experimental approaches to somitogenesis that are
presented in these volumes will leave the reader with a broad
perspective on how current research in somitogenesis is helping to
solve fundamental questions in vertebrate development and
morphogenesis.
Current Topics in Developmental Biology provides a comprehensive survey of the major topics in the field of developmental biology. The volumes are valuable to researchers in animal and plant development, as well as to students and professionals who want an introduction to cellular and molecular mechanisms of development. The series has recently passed its 30-year mark, making it the longest-running forum for contemporary issues in developmental biology.

Volume 34 continues the series' tradition of timely review and incisive analyses of key research in developmental biology. Not only valuable to researchers at the forefront of animal and plant development, this volume is also a friendly introduction to students and professionals who are curious about current topics in cellular and molecular mechanisms in development.

The main theme of this anthology is the unique interaction between mathematics, physics and philosophy during the beginning of the 20th century. In this book, ten renowned philosopher-historians probe insightfully into key conceptual questions of pre-quantum mathematical physics. The result is a diverse yet thematically focused compilation of first class papers on mathematics, physics and philosophy, and a source-book on the interaction between them.
The editors present, in a single volume, a valuable reference source for students of mammalian embryology, genetics, and physiology, this book provides a thorough overview of the field of embryonic development - its current status along with possible directions in the future.
The Pathways series assists students in achieving the National Certificate (Vocational) qualification. Pathways not only equips students with the required knowledge, understanding and practical skills, but also empowers them to apply this learning with confidence in the classroom and ultimately in the workplace. Each Pathways Student Book is clearly structured and easy to use. Each topic covers every Subject Outcome, Learning Outcome and Assessment Standard. Accessible, easy-to-understand language makes learning easy. Concepts are clearly defined. A glossary at the beginning of each topic clearly explains important words and terminology. Informative artwork supports the text. This Student Book is accompanied by a Lecturer’s Guide.
