Antiracist Discourse in Brazil: From Abolition to Affirmative Action follows Teun A. van Dijk's earlier studies on racist discourse in Europe, the USA, and Latin America. Antiracism is a global and historical social movement of resistance and solidarity, yet there have been relatively few books focusing on it as a subject in its own right. How do social situations influence language use, discourse and conversation? This book is a monograph which presents a multidisciplinary theory of context and the way context influences language use and discourse.
