My life has been a testimony to Apostle Paul's letter to James. Paul's call for joy in the face of trials and tribulations seems unusual. However, an examination makes clear that Paul finds joy in the results of tribulations, not in the trials. Difficult times can produce good qualities such as perseverance. My humble beginning was common for people like me (poor boy from the Projects). I wanted to be a man with a good family and make a positive contribution to society. As a young boy, I never envisioned overcoming extreme shyness or becoming a senior commander in a large police department. I never imagined being the center of a national controversy about the unfair police practice of "Racial Profiling." I did not foresee having to overcome individuals I considered friends, who turned out to be "Negro Judases." I had no idea that I would become the Vice Mayor and a Councilman in the largest predominately African American city in the State of Florida. I attribute my accomplishments to GOD. "You know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete."
