The magickal methods and esoteric knowledge of medieval Europe (476
to 1453 C.E.) form the ancestral backbone of modern ceremonial
magick. To understand medieval magick, it's necessary to know the
primary repositories of this knowledge - the grimoires of spells,
incantations, and ritual instructions for working with angels and
conjuring spirits. And to understand the grimoires, you must delve
into the life and times of the magicians who wrote them.
Discover how to perform Enochian magick with a straightforward guide that shows just what to do. The Essential Enochian Grimoire is an easy-to-read manual that's light enough to carry in a magickal circle yet provides all the details you need to perform the ceremonies. Impeccably researched and clearly organized, this book is the definitive primer on a topic that has captivated esotericists for centuries. Explore the history of Enochian cosmology, the angels and the spirits of the system, the temple setup, and the making and usage of the tools. Learn the secrets of John Dee's classical Enochian system as well as the modern system developed by the Golden Dawn. Practice the rituals of the new and the old . . . and summon the angels who guard the gates of heaven. Praise: "Aaron Leitch has done a remarkable job of clarifying the Enochian system for the benefit of both beginners and advanced magicians alike. You will not find a better introduction to Enochian magick anywhere."--Chic and Tabatha Cicero, Chief Adepts of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and co-authors of The Essential Golden Dawn "In the complex and often confusing world of Enochian magick, Aaron Leitch has accomplished the seemingly impossible by bringing clarity and precision while never oversimplifying or speaking down to the reader."--Donald Michael Kraig, author of Modern Magick "An indispensable addition to any Enochian magician's bookshelf."--Frater Yechidah, author of Enochian Magic in Theory
Look up towards the heavens and open your mind to the infinite, for it is there that you will see the colourful multifaceted world of winged messengers - Gods, Angels, Fallen Angels and Demons. BOTH SIDES OF HEAVEN is a collection of 18 essays by some of the foremost modern esoteric writers, occult scholars and magicians. In their personal contributions they share their experiences, research and unique insights into the spiritual realms of the mysterious beings who have played such an important and inspirational role in human spiritual history. From the nature of the daimons of the Graeco-Roman world, the Zoroastrian Ahuras and Daevas, the seductive Lilith and mighty Lucifer, through to the Fallen Angels of the Bible and the Book of Enoch, and their children the Nephilim, we find that these powerful beings are harbingers of change. In this anthology their magical natures are explored through the works of Renaissance magicians such as Dr John Dee and Edward Kelley, Dr Thomas Rudd and more recently Madeline Montalban, as well as in that of the experiences of the contributors themselves. The ceremonies and conjurations of grimoires such as the Key of Solomon, Goetia and Grimorium Verum are considered, as well as adaptations thereof and simpler, personal encounters. When you look at Both Sides of Heaven seeking wisdom and knowledge from the wings of ethereal messengers, you will see legions of angels and demons, archangels, fallen angels, old gods and even a few faeries and green butterflies. And maybe, they will be looking back at you too. List of Contributions: Introduction - A Host of Winged Messengers - Sorita d'Este (editor) Fallen Angels and Legends of the Fall - Rufus Harrington On the Wings of Rebirth - Katherine Sutherland The Myth of the Fallen Ones - Michael Howard The Enochians - Aaron Leitch Madeline Montalban, Elemental and Fallen Angels - Julia Phillips Azazel & Shemyaza - Diana Allam Thirteen Unicycles in the Woods - Adele Nozedar The Salvation of the Sidhe - Emily Carding The Green Butterfly - Dan Harms The Fallen Angels and the Goetia - David Rankine Demons & Devils - Maestro Nestor Grimoires for Pagans - Jake Stratton-Kent The Thwarting Angels - Stephen Skinner The Face in the Mirror - Charlotte Rodgers Between Gods and Men - Kim Huggens Loving Lilith - Melissa Harrington Zoroastrian Angels and Demons - Payam Nabarz As these essays demonstrate, Angels have been with us for many thousands of years, and their influence continues to be felt as strongly today as it ever was
"The visualizations here draw their imagery from classical grimoires and Qabalistic philosophy. Plus, they have a specific and useful goal. Each visualization takes you on a journey into the symbolic realm of an archangel, where you are introduced to the entity's sigils and symbols and other sacred imagery before encountering the archangel himself. Each visualization builds upon those before it, until the aspirant has been led through the seven circles of heaven and has established a personal link to the archangel that governs each one. At the end, the aspirant will have learned to recognize the images, seals and symbols they will encounter in the Solomonic and other advanced systems of angel summoning. Such guided visualizations are certainly absent from the medieval texts about angels. So, why should I urge anyone who wishes to work with angels - even Solomonic practitioners - to follow the instructions in this book? Simply put, this book is based upon the same principle I described above: safely establishing first contact. It accomplishes this without resort to the full-fledged summoning ceremonies intended to call the angel down to the physical plane - an advanced practice the grimoires tend to jump into without preamble. This book even includes simple rituals by which you can submit petitions to the archangels in times of need - and these rituals are not entirely removed from the methods of the grimoires. Therefore, working through the steps outlined in this book can serve as a wonderful bridge between "square one" and the fully adept practices of angelic summoning.": From Aaron Leitch's Preface
