Exposing the Orange Moon conspiracy was brutal on Thomas Gunn. His father was murdered. His best friend killed. And he and his partner Julie nearly lost their lives. But a desperate call from his journalist friend Morgan propels him into an even more sinister plot that threatens the United States and the world's security. Racing to follow her cryptic clues, he's thrust into the deadly path of drug cartels, the FBI, MI5, corrupt politicians and greedy Wall St brokers. But his greatest shock is the discovery that everything leads back to his own past, as a British Special Forces Officer in Afghanistan at the height of the war. A past he had hoped to forget, but will not forget him. Tearing at his soul is a haunting question - was he used as a pawn in an evil "game" back then? And is he still being "played" even now? Outraged at the thought, he does something so unexpected that its boldness and daring will take your breath away But how high a price will he have to pay for uncovering the truth?

R388 Discovery Miles 3 880 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This first book in the Thomas Gunn thriller series by bestselling author AFN Clarke sets a riveting pace from the very first page.

Ex-British Special Forces officer Thomas Gun and his partner Julie are running for their lives. Who are they running from? And why? It all starts when Thomas begins investigating the mysterious murder of his billionaire father. Before he knows it, he's flying a helicopter in the dark, rapidly losing blood from two nasty bullet wounds, with Julie slipping into unconsciousness and a ground-to-air Stinger missile rushing towards him from deep in the Nevada desert.

The danger rapidly escalates when he is reluctantly compelled back into working for British Military Intelligence to uncover a massive international conspiracy that puts the freedom of the western world at grave risk. And with it resurface painful memories from a mission he'd rather forget.

But who is behind this sinister plot? And what dark secrets from the past will he uncover, in his relentless quest for the truth? This action-packed thriller spans the UK, USA and Europe, and keeps you guessing to the very end

Having lived in many countries around the world from an early age, and calling upon his background as the son of an MI6 intelligence gatherer and as an officer in Britain's elite Parachute Regiment, AFN Clarke has crafted a thriller that has surprised and delighted reviewers.

Contact (Paperback): Afn Clarke Contact (Paperback)

R363 Discovery Miles 3 630 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This newly expanded edition of AFN Clarke's best selling and controversial book CONTACT is a raw, visceral, "no-holds-barred" account from one of the men we paid to kill. When first published it caused a furore for its devastating honesty and chilling revelations. Clarke vividly recounts his experiences of two tours of Northern Ireland (in Belfast and Crossmaglen) as a Platoon Commander with Britain's elite Parachute Regiment during the blood soaked 1970's. Eerily similar to soldiers' experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan today, the enemy wears no uniform and shoots from the shadows and the bomber's trip-wire is an ever-present nightmare.

Clarke takes us to the heart of the action. We enter the private world of soldiers, operating in conditions of extreme stress and ordered to hold the lines in an ancient quarrel they have little affinity for, but whose consequences are deadly. We experience their emotions, fear, courage, humor, bravado and the anguish of death.

This expanded edition includes a restored section omitted by the publisher from the original edition, revealing the untold nightmare Clarke lived through having nearly died, with half his insides missing, suffering from PTSD and being expected to return to a "normal life" after his 1976 tour. A story of the scars of war that affect generations. Of heartache, courage and hope for peace.
