A clear-sighted introduction to a complex subject, 'Internal
Marketing' provides the reader with a succinct overview of the most
recent thinking and practice. The text begins by defining what
internal marketing is and how it can work, and from this
foundation: * Outlines state-of-the-art thinking and practice *
Demonstrates how internal marketing can be used to facilitate such
diverse strategies as TQM, New Product Development and Change
Management * Highlights the techniques managers need to understand
to use IM effectively within their organizations * Contains a range
of international and up to the minute examples and cases of best
practice from companies around the world Throughout the book the
emphasis is on understanding the principles that have made internal
marketing such a potent force within leading corporations. This is
combined with a pragmatic assessment of the many challenges
involved in making it a reality within an organization.
With the current emphasis on sustainable construction there is now
a move towards using non-hazardous waste materials and by-products,
as binders in making self-compacting concrete. Alternative
Cementitious Materials for Self-Compacting Concrete provides a
detailed review on the various properties of self-compacting
concrete (SCC) and how they are affected by the use, of by-products
and waste materials in concrete production. The book provides a
fair comparison on the application and use of various types of
materials in SCC. It also provides the latest data and detailed
information on modeling and soft computing techniques for
estimation of the various properties of SCC as well as detailed
investigations on microstructural characterization. The book will
be a valuable reference resource for materials scientists, and
civil and structural engineers working in construction materials
and self-compacting concrete, as well as for those working in the
cement production and non-hazard waste industries.
Computer Modeling Applications for Environmental Engineers in its
second edition incorporates changes and introduces new concepts
using Visual Basic.NET, a programming language chosen for its ease
of comprehensive usage. This book offers a complete understanding
of the basic principles of environmental engineering and integrates
new sections that address Noise Pollution and Abatement and
municipal solid-waste problem solving, financing of waste
facilities, and the engineering of treatment methods that address
sanitary landfill, biochemical processes, and combustion and energy
recovery. Its practical approach serves to aid in the teaching of
environmental engineering unit operations and processes design and
demonstrates effective problem-solving practices that facilitate
self-teaching. A vital reference for students and professional
sanitary and environmental engineers this work also serves as a
stand-alone problem-solving text with well-defined, real-work
examples and explanations.

Since the success of products significantly depends on the quality
of product performance, inadequate management of the product design
process can lead to improper performance of products that can
result in significant long-term business losses. Design for
Profitability: Guidelines to Cost Effectively Manage the
Development Process of Complex Products presents a design guideline
for complex product design and development that enables you to
cost-effectively improve the technical performance of your products
and consequently improve your competitiveness in the marketplace as
well as improve profitability. The book helps you improve the
competitiveness of your organization in the market and eventually
improve profitability. It presents a mobile robots design guideline
based on an empirical study of the mobile robots design process.
This is an unprecedented guideline based on the empirical
investigation of the internal aspects of the design process of
complex products for cost-effectively enhancing the competitiveness
in the market. The book also presents a hybrid lean-agile design
paradigm for mobile robots. In addition, it points out key
approaches and risks to manage the product development process
efficiently. In designing complex products and integrated systems,
industrial designers face a dilemma of cost-effectively striking a
balance between product development time and product performance
attributes. This book shows how and when value is added in product
design and development through identifying statistically the most
and least correlated design activities and strategies to product
performance attributes. Introducing a new paradigm in the field of
engineering design, the book gives you key approaches to
efficiently manage the product development process.
Hydroclimatic Extremes in the Middle East and North Africa:
Assessment, Attribution and Socioeconomic Impacts focuses on
assessing the current situation of hydroclimatic extremes in the
MENA region, with particular emphasis on dry and wet extreme
events. The results of the rapidly changing atmospheric and oceanic
situations of these extremes is addressed, presenting examples for
the environmental, socioeconomic and cultural impacts of these
events in the region and evaluating the current ability to monitor
and adapt to such events. In addition, the book explores the
potential use of advanced geospatial techniques in improving
current understanding of these extreme events. The book utilizes a
multidisciplinary approach with various state-of-the-art methods,
approaches, and analytical techniques in environmental,
meteorological, and hydrological sciences, providing case studies
from the Middle East and North Africa region. It will be a valuable
source of information for climatologists, meteorologists,
hydrologists, agronomists, geographers, and water resource
scientists.
The book identifies the performance challenges concerning Wireless
Sensor Networks (WSN) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and
analyzes their impact on the performance of routing protocols. It
presents a thorough literature survey to identify the issues
affecting routing protocol performance, as well as a mathematical
model for calculating the end-to-end delays of the routing protocol
ACQUIRE; a comparison of two routing protocols (ACQUIRE and
DIRECTED DIFFUSION) is also provided for evaluation purposes. On
the basis of the results and literature review, recommendations are
made for better selection of protocols regarding the nature of the
respective application and related challenges. In addition, this
book covers a proposed simulator that integrates both RFID and WSN
technologies. Therefore, the manuscript is divided in two major
parts: an integrated architecture of smart nodes, and a
power-optimized protocol for query and information interchange.

This book constitutes revised selected papers from the refereed
proceedings of the 5th The Global IoT Summit, GIoTS 2022, which
took place in Dublin, Ireland, in June 20-23, 2022. The 33 full
papers included in this book were carefully reviewed andselected
from 75 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as
follows: ioT enabling technologies; ioT applications, services and
real implementations; ioT security, privacy and data protection;
and ioT pilots, testbeds and experimentation results.
This book focuses on identifying the performance challenges
involved in computer architectures, optimal configuration settings
and analysing their impact on the performance of multi-core
architectures. Proposing a power and throughput-aware
fuzzy-logic-based reconfiguration for Multi-Processor Systems on
Chip (MPSoCs) in both simulation and real-time environments, it is
divided into two major parts. The first part deals with the
simulation-based power and throughput-aware fuzzy logic
reconfiguration for multi-core architectures, presenting the
results of a detailed analysis on the factors impacting the power
consumption and performance of MPSoCs. In turn, the second part
highlights the real-time implementation of fuzzy-logic-based
power-efficient reconfigurable multi-core architectures for Intel
and Leone3 processors.
The main objective of this book is to make respective graduate
students understand the nonlinear effects inside SOI waveguide and
possible applications of SOI waveguides in this emerging research
area of optical fibre communication. This book focuses on achieving
successful optical frequency shifting by Four Wave Mixing (FWM) in
silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguide by exploiting a nonlinear
phenomenon.
