Anaerobic digestion is a major field for the treatment of waste and wastewater. Lately the focus has been on the quality of the effluent setting new demands for pathogen removal and for successful removal of unwanted chemicals during the anaerobic process. The two volumes on Biomethanation are devoted to presenting the state of art within the science and application of anaerobic digestion. They describe the basic microbiolgical knowledge of importance for understanding the processes of anaerobic bioreactors along with the newest molecular techniques for examining these systems. In addition, the applications for treatment of waste and wastewaters are presented along with the latest knowledge on process control and regulation of anaerobic bioprocesses. Together these two volumes give an overview of a growing area, which previously has never been presented in such a comprehensive way.
This review series covers trends in modern biotechnology. All aspects of this interdisciplinary technology, where knowledge, methods and expertise are required from chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, chemical engineering and computer science, are treated. * An accessible resource, covering the fundamentals of carbonate
reservoir engineering
* Includes discussions on how, where and why carbonate are formed,
plus reviews of basic sedimentological and stratigraphic principles
to explain carbonate platform characteristics and stratigraphic
relationships
* Offers a new, genetic classification of carbonate porosity that
is especially useful in predicting spatial distribution of pore
networks.
* Includes a solution manual
Originally published in 1931, this book contains a number of
selections from the prose writings of William Morris. The extracts
come from Morris' fiction publications as well as his more
well-known opinions on art and design. This book will be of value
for anyone interested in an overview of Morris' prose output or
late nineteenth-century English writing more generally.
Originally published in 1930, this book contains a series of
extracts from Thomas Carlyle's influential three-volume work The
French Revolution: A History (1837). The text was compiled with the
intention of providing a 'representation both of Carlyle's
delineation of the Revolution, and of his poetic scheme of
history.' Continuity of narrative is ensured through the use of
short explanatory link passages which are inserted between
extracts. A detailed editorial introduction is also included, with
information on the text, Carlyle's life and his conception of
history. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in
Carlyle's writings and perspectives on the French Revolution.
Originally published in 1929, this book presents a selection of
Thomas Carlyle's writings, aiming 'to collect and arrange the
passages most representative of Carlyle's contribution to culture
and to thought, particularly in the spheres of Literary Criticism,
Philosophy, Political Economy, and History.' A detailed editorial
introduction is also included, with information on Carlyle's life
and intellectual views. This book will be of value to anyone with
an interest in Thomas Carlyle and his works.
First published in 1928, this book gathers together a selection of
John Ruskin's relatively neglected writings on literature and
aesthetics. As noted in the textual preface, 'The attention which
has been given to Ruskin's other subjects makes the neglect of this
branch of his work more striking, for there is here much of
permanent value. Interesting themes, original treatment, suggestive
ideas which warm and stimulate the mind, are set out in a more
easily readable form than is usual in Ruskin's works.' This book
will be of value to anyone with an interest in Ruskin and literary
criticism.

This volume contains a selection of papers referring to lectures
presented at the symposium "Operations Research 2003" (OR03) held
at the Ruprecht- Karls-Universitiit Heidelberg, September 3 - 5,
2003. This international con- ference took place under the auspices
of the German Operations Research So- ciety (GOR) and of Dr. Erwin
Teufel, prime minister of Baden-Wurttemberg. The symposium had
about 500 participants from countries all over the world. It
attracted academians and practitioners working in various field of
Opera- tions Research and provided them with the most recent
advances in Opera- tions Research and related areas in Economics,
Mathematics, and Computer Science. The program consisted of 4
plenary and 13 semi-plenary talks and more than 300 contributed
papers selected by the program committee to be presented in 17
sections. Due to a limited number of pages available for the
proceedings volume, the length of each article as well as the total
number of accepted contributions had to be restricted. Submitted
manuscripts have therefore been reviewed and 62 of them have been
selected for publication. This refereeing procedure has been
strongly supported by the section chairmen and we would like to
express our gratitude to them. Finally, we also would like to thank
Dr. Werner Muller from Springer-Verlag for his support in
publishing this proceedings volume.
The effective management of transportation resources can reduce the
expenses of an organization significantly. For these reasons the
study of routing problems has been an important area of operations
research for the last fifty years, and its significance is still
growing with the increasing numbers of companies and organizations
that have to deal with transport activities. This book deals with a
major subclass of routing problems, so called postman problems,
where services have to be performed along streets, e.g., postal
service, waste collection or street cleaning activities. The
introductory part of the book gives a comprehensive survey to
routing problems. The main part of the book is dedicated to an
in-depth treatment of postman problems with multiple postmen. The
author presents fundamental and well known methods as well as new
algorithms to attack these problems effectively. This book is
valuable for mathematicians, computer scientists and economists who
have to solve multiple postmen problems in theory and practice.

sondern fur ganze Volkswirtschaften.
