The book is the proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on
NeuroRehabilitation (ICNR 2014), held 24th-26th June 2014 in
Aalborg, Denmark. The conference featured the latest highlights in
the emerging and interdisciplinary field of neural rehabilitation
engineering and identified important healthcare challenges the
scientific community will be faced with in the coming years. Edited
and written by leading experts in the field, the book includes
keynote papers, regular conference papers, and contributions to
special and innovation sessions, covering the following main
topics: neuro-rehabilitation applications and solutions for
restoring impaired neurological functions; cutting-edge
technologies and methods in neuro-rehabilitation; and translational
challenges in neuro-rehabilitation. Thanks to its highly
interdisciplinary approach, the book will not only be a highly
relevant reference guide for academic researchers, engineers,
neurophysiologists, neuroscientists, physicians and
physiotherapists working at the forefront of their field, but will
also help to act as bridge between the scientific, engineering and
medical communities.
Eminent scholars investigate the sharp contrast between the acute
and multi-dimensional scale of the challenges to global health
governance and the contradictory and ineffective responses to them.
They draw on a wide range of disciplines to uncover the critical
political economy dynamics in the contemporary governance of global
health.

Direct Liquid Fuel Cells is a comprehensive overview of the
fundamentals and specificities of the use of methanol, ethanol,
glycerol, formic acid and formate, dimethyl ether, borohydride,
hydrazine and other promising liquid fuels in fuel cells. Each
chapter covers a different liquid fuel-based fuel cell such as:
Anode catalysts of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), future
system designs and future trends for direct ethanol fuel cells
(DEFCs), development of catalysts for direct glycerol fuel cells
(DGFCs), the mechanisms of the reactions taking place at the anode
and cathode electrodes, and the reported anode catalysts for direct
formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) and direct formate fuel cell (DFFC),
characteristics of direct dimethyl ether fuel cell (DDMEFC),
including its electrochemical and operating systems and design, the
developments in direct borohydride fuel cells, the development of
catalysts for direct hydrazine fuel cells (DHFCs), and also the
uncommonly used liquids that have a potential for fuel cell
applications including 2-propanol, ethylene glycol, ascorbic acid
and ascorbate studied in the literature as well as utilization of
some blended fuels. In each part, the most recent literature is
reviewed and the state of the art is presented. It also includes
examples of practical problems with solutions and a summarized
comparison of performance, advantages, and limitations of each type
of fuel cell discussed. Direct Liquid Fuel Cells is not a typical
textbook but rather designed as a reference book of which any level
of students (undergraduate or graduate), instructors, field
specialists, industry and general audience, who benefit from
current and complete understanding of the many aspects involved in
the development and operation of these types of fuel cells, could
make use of any chapter when necessary.
This book aims to bring together studies using different data types
(panel data, cross-sectional data and time series data) and
different methods (for example, panel regression, nonlinear time
series, chaos approach, deep learning, machine learning techniques
among others) and to create a source for those interested in these
topics and methods by addressing some selected applied econometrics
topics which have been developed in recent years. It creates a
common meeting ground for scientists who give econometrics
education in Turkey to study, and contribute to the delivery of the
authors' knowledge to the people who take interest. This book can
also be useful for "Applied Economics and Econometrics" courses in
postgraduate education as a material source
Theologians have had to increasingly engage with beliefs and
practises outside of their own traditions. The resultant "theology
of religions" is, however, often formulated in isolation from the
religions they are describing. This book provides a comparison of
the development of theology of religions in Western Christianity
and its application in anIslamic context. It also shows the
parallels between some specific forms of theology of religions,
i.e. exclusivism, inclusivism or pluralism, in both Islamic and
Christian traditions. The arguments of Christian and Muslim
theologians, including the specific contributions of Rowan Williams
and Jerusha Lamptey, are examined in order to reveal the
interconnections and contradictions of their pluralist, exclusivist
and inclusivist approaches. This provides a rounded picture of
Christian-Muslim understanding of religious others and prepares the
ground for a stronger and more sophisticated Islamic theology of
religions. This is vital reading for those studying theology of
religions, comparative theology and interfaith relations.
The book reports on advanced topics in the areas of
neurorehabilitation research and practice. It focuses on new
methods for interfacing the human nervous system with electronic
and mechatronic systems to restore or compensate impaired neural
functions. Importantly, the book merges different perspectives,
such as the clinical, neurophysiological, and bioengineering ones,
to promote, feed and encourage collaborations between clinicians,
neuroscientists and engineers. Based on the 2020 International
Conference on Neurorehabilitation (ICNR 2020) held online on
October 13-16, 2020, this book covers various aspects of
neurorehabilitation research and practice, including new insights
into biomechanics, brain physiology, neuroplasticity, and brain
damages and diseases, as well as innovative methods and
technologies for studying and/or recovering brain function, from
data mining to interface technologies and neuroprosthetics. In this
way, it offers a concise, yet comprehensive reference guide to
neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, neurologists, and
bioengineers. Moreover, by highlighting current challenges in
understanding brain diseases as well as in the available
technologies and their implementation, the book is also expected to
foster new collaborations between the different groups, thus
stimulating new ideas and research directions.

Fourteen years have passed since the publication of David Spencer
Smith's Insect Cells: Their Structure and Function. Here the
results of a decade of electronmicroscopic studies on insect cells
were summarized in an organized and integrated fashion for the
first time, and the ultrastructural characteristics of different
specialized cells and tissues were abundantly illustrated in the
117 plates this monograph contained. In the intervening period
great progress has been made in the field of Insect Ultrastructure.
Organelles not even mentioned in Smith's book, such as synaptonemal
complexes, clathrin baskets, fusomes, and retinular junc tions,
have been identified and functions proposed for them. There have
also been many technical advances that have profoundly influenced
the direction of subsequent research. A spectacular example would
be the development by Miller and Beatty of the chromosomal
spreading technique which allowed for the first time
ultrastructural studies on segments of chromosomes containing genes
in various stages of replication and transcription. Then there is
the freeze-fracture procedure first described by Moor and his
colleagues. This technique permitted an analysis of intercellular
junctions that was impossible with the conventional sectioning
methods. The results greatly clarified our understanding of the
channels for ion movement and the permeability barriers between
cells and also the membrane changes that occur during the embryonic
differentiation and metamorphosis of various types of insect
cells."
Structural stability is of fundamental importance in materials
science. Up-to-date information on the theoretical aspects of phase
stability of materials is contained in this volume. Most of the
first-principles calculations are based on the local-density
approximation (LDA). In contrast, this volume contains very recent
results of "going beyond LDA," such as the density gradient
expansion and the quantum Monte-Carlomethod. Following the recently
introduced theoretical methods for the calculation of interatomic
potentials, forces acting on atoms and total energies such as the
Car-Parrinello, the effective-medium and the bond-ordermethod,
attempts have been made to develop even more sophisticated methods
such as the order-N method in electronic-structure calculations.
The present status of these methods and their application to real
systems are described. In addition, in order to study the phase
stability atfinite temperatures, the microscopic calculations have
to be combined with statistical treatment of the systems to
describe, e.g. order-disorder transitions on the Si(001) surface or
alloy phase diagrams. This book contains examples for this type of
calculations.
Cell biology is moving at breakneck speed, and many of the results
from studies on insects have helped in understanding some of the
central problems of biology. The time is therefore ripe to provide
the scientific community with a series of up-to-date, well
illustrated reviews of selected aspects of the sub microscopic
cytology of insects. The topics we have included fall into four
general groups: seven chapters deal with gametogenesis, four
concern develop ing somatic cells, seventeen chapters describe
specialized tissues and organs, and three chapters cover cells in
pathological states. These accounts are illustrated with over 600
electron micrographs. The more than 1100 pages in the two volumes
of Insect Ultrastructure combined labors of 49 dedicated
contributors from II countries. represent the These authors have
digested and critically summarized a very large body of
information, and some measure of this effort can be gained from
consulting the bibliographies that close each of the 31 chapters.
These contain 2400 publica tions authored by 1500 different
scientists. However, before we congratulate ourselves on the
advanced state of our knowledge, it is worth remembering that
representatives of less than 0.01 % of the known species of insects
have been examined with the electron microscope.
Transported to a fantasy world for a roguish new take on the isekai
genre. (And don’t miss the original light novels, also from
Seven Seas!) When Akira’s class is magically summoned to another
world, he and his classmates are awarded fantastical powers–but
while one of them is lucky enough to become a true Hero, Akira
becomes a mere Assassin. However, against all odds, the Assassin
just might be the most powerful role of all! Harboring doubts about
the intentions of the king, Akira uses his newfound strength as a
master of the shadows to uncover the secrets and conspiracies of
the crown.

Nobody doubts that the contemporary art of Turkey has `arrived' on
the international stage: Hale Tenger's work has been bought by the
Pompidou Centre; Fikret Atay features in Tate Modern's collection;
Kutlug Ataman has been nominated for the Turner Prize; and
collectors flock from around the world to pick up pieces by
exceptionally talented Turkish artists. 'Unleashed' is the most
comprehensive account yet of the recent storm of activity in
Turkey's art scene. A sumptuously illustrated A-Z of over ninety of
the most exciting Turkish contemporary artists, it contains many
exclusive interviews with some of the biggest names in Turkish art,
as well as such up-and-coming artists as Leyla Gediz, Emre Huner
and Ali Kazmal and the Turkish diaspora. It also features
interviews with and profiles of leading curators, gallerists,
collectors, artist-run spaces and museums. The work of the featured
artists is put into further context by three important essays
written by leading curators and critics, which tackle the issues of
identity, and the relationship of Turkish art to international
artistic trends.
When the first prince Eins shuts himself in his room for days,
Count Rosenberg finally resolves to accept the help and care of
Heine and the other four princelings. But when they finally burst
into Eins's room, the eldest brother is nowhere to be found...!

After an old photo of Professor Heine reveals a darker past than
the princes could've ever imagined, Heine decides to explain the
true story of what happened on that fateful night... Shaken by this
knowledge, will the princelings be able to accept Heine or have
they lost trust in him for good?
High schooler Oda Akira is good at flying under the radar. When his
entire class is summoned to a fantasy world by a royal family,
they're asked to become heroes and bring down the demon king... but
Akira is suspicious. Using his stealth abilities, he sneaks into
the royal library to find out the truth about this 'heroic
mission.' Will he tell his classmates what's really going on, or is
it up to Akira - and his remarkable thief-like skills - to solve
this problem on this own?
Focusing on recent developments and current priorities in various
areas of physics, this book presents advances in high temperature
superconductivity and super fluidity, physics of low dimensional
systems, Bose-Einstein condensation, quantum dots, collective modes
in finite systems, coherent correlations of particles, coherence of
atomic levels under extreme conditions, tensor correlations in
nuclei, super-heavy nuclei, the effect of relativity in nuclear
structure, molecular dynamics and phase transitions in solids,
nuclei and quarks and QCD dynamics for hadrons and hadronic matter.
Prince Licht's love of his part-time job at the cafe is no secret.
(Well, his identity is a secret...and that he even has the job is
kind of a secret... Anyhoo......) When he's given an opportunity to
brew up his own special coffee blend, does he have the stuff to
take his budding enthusiasm to the next level?
When the king returns to court, it's time for the princes to prove
their mettle. But not everyone's been exactly keeping up with
Heine's lessons... (Hint: It's the prince who only scored a one on
his assessment test...and that was for signing his name!) Can Heine
really whip these boys into shape well enough to rule a country?
