This book presents the select proceedings of the 2nd International
Conference on Transportation Infrastructure Projects: Conception to
Execution (TIPCE 2022) at IIT Roorkee and emphasizes the
understanding of transportation infrastructure projects being
conceptualized, designed, and executed so as to bring the desired
development in the focused area. It comprises case studies from the
transportation sector, construction industries, consulting
agencies, and research and academic institutions. These studies
present the bottlenecks experienced during the implementation of
the projects, from their conceptualization to their execution and
the corrective measures that were incorporated to finish the work.
The book will be a valuable reference for beginners, researchers,
and professionals interested in construction planning and
technology, infrastructure engineering, highway engineering,
traffic and transportation planning and systems.
The proper understanding and managing of project risks and
uncertainties is crucial to any organization. It is paramount that
all phases of project development and execution are monitored to
avoid poor project results from meager economics, overspending, and
reputation. Supply Chain Management Strategies and Risk Assessment
in Retail Environments is a comprehensive reference source for the
latest scholarly material on effectively managing risk factors and
implementing the latest supply management strategies in retail
environments. Featuring coverage on relevant topics such as
omni-channel retail, green supply chain, and customer loyalty, this
book is geared toward academicians, researchers, and students
seeking current research on the challenges and opportunities
available in the realm of retail and the flow of materials,
information, and finances between companies and consumers.
This book provides up-to-date knowledge of the promising field of
Nanobiotechnology with emphasis on the mitigation approaches to
combat plant abiotic stress factors, including drought, salinity,
waterlog, temperature extremes, mineral nutrients, and heavy
metals. These factors adversely affect the growth as well as yield
of crop plants worldwide, especially under the global climate
change. Nanobiotechnology is viewed to revolutionize crop
productivity in future. The chapters discuss the status and
prospects of this cutting-edge technology toward understanding
tolerance mechanisms, including signaling molecules and enzymes
regulation in addition to the applications of Nanobiotechnology to
combat individual abiotic stress factors.
This book presents an overview of the techniques available today
for the removal of fluoride contamination/pollutants/species from
water. Also covered are traditionally applied techniques for the
removal of fluoride pollutants/species, including oxidation,
coagulation-flocculation, and membrane techniques. Recently,
progress has been made on the utility of various nanoparticles for
the extraction of contaminants from water. Fluoride contamination
is affecting water resources quality worldwide as a result of human
activities, such as mining and pesticide use. Due to the high risk
of fluoride exposure, specific water treatment processes are
required to meet more severe water quality standards. A better
understanding of currently available processes is necessary to
develop economical, efficient, and effective methods for fluoride
removal. Fluoride can either be coated, adsorbed using a wide range
of both mineral and organic constituents or can be directly
rejected by membrane processes, such as reverse osmosis and
nanofiltration. Recent developments of submerged hybrid membrane
systems, such as membrane bioreactors in wastewater treatment,
provide alternative technologies for fluoride treatment.Â
This co-edited book focuses on the state-of-the-art research in
transportation in India. Exploring the need for a sustainable
transport paradigm in India, this timely book offers solution
concepts for mobility and infrastructure challenges faced by local,
state, and national transport authorities. The contents provide a
holistic understanding of the paradigm, considering several
case-studies and study findings from the leading transportation
researchers in India. At the same time, it also addresses the
pressing transportation related challenges such as road user
safety, traffic operation efficiency, economic and social
development, non-motorized transport planning, environmental impact
mitigation, energy consumption reduction, land-use, equity, freight
transport planning, multimodal coordination, access for the diverse
range of travellers' needs, sustainable pavement construction, and
emerging vehicle technologies. The existing practices and policies
in all the sectors and levels of transport are highlighted in this
book with an emphasis on a broader vision for achieving sustainable
and inclusive development. The information and data-driven
inferences compiled in the book will be useful for practitioners,
policymakers, educators, researchers, students, and individual
learners.
