Short Plays, Comedy Charatcers: 2 male, 2 female 3 interior sets Consists of The Way of All Fish, Virtual Reality and In and Out of the Light, three short plays about the collision of wills that were an Off Broadway comedy sensation starring the authors. "Classic comedies ... with subversive details that keep catching you off guard.... The evening ... percolates with actorly inventiveness and a willingness to pursue a warped logic step by step into the land of absurdity. Has a heady sense of discovery, of seeing prototypical situations being twisted and spun to the point of dizziness, of disparate comic minds bouncing off each other."-N.Y. Times "A giddy delight."-N.Y. Post "Hilarious as well as thoughtful."-N.Y. Daily News
John Goodman and Diane Keaton star in this festive romantic comedy. On Christmas Eve four generations of the Cooper family reunite to spend the holiday season together. Although matriarch Charlotte Cooper (Keaton) just wants everyone together to enjoy the perfect Christmas, the holiday celebration doesn't quite go according to her plan. Before the festivities even get under way, her daughter Eleanor (Olivia Wilde) convinces a stranger to pose as her new boyfriend for the weekend, her sister Emma (Marisa Tomei) is arrested for shoplifting and their brother Hank (Ed Helms) is struggling to cope with single parenthood. With the whole family under one roof, Charlotte's dreams of a perfect holiday are put in serious jeopardy. The film also stars Alan Arkin, June Squibb and Amanda Seyfried.
Hitman Martin Blank's (John Cusack) day goes from bad to worse when he messes up his latest job due to the intervention of his rival, Grocer (Dan Aykroyd). To make amends with his client, Martin has to travel to Grosse Pointe and take out a Federal witness. This trip coincides with his high school reunion, so Martin meets up with his former sweetheart Debi (Minnie Driver), unaware that he is being tailed by two government agents and Felix, another rival assassin who is out for his blood.
Alan Arkin knew he was going to be an actor from the age of five: "Every film I saw, every play, every piece of music fed an unquenchable need to turn myself into something other than what I was." "An Improvised Life" is the Oscar winner's wise and unpretentious recollection of the process--artistic and personal--of becoming an actor, and a revealing look into the creative mind of one of the best practitioners on stage or screen. In a manner that is direct, down-to-earth, accessible, and articulate, Arkin reveals insights not only about himself (and his audience and students), but also truths for the rest of us about work, relationships, and sense of self.
A gothic love story from Tim Burton. When Avon lady Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) pays a call to the local castle, she discovers Edward (Johnny Depp) - a half-finished, mechanical boy with scissors for hands. She takes him home to her suburban neighbourhood, where his exotic appeal and prodigious topiary skills make him a celebrity. However, prejudice against the unfamiliar soon takes its toll on the shy misfit.
