This new collection of eight short stories will appeal to fans of
the macabre and the sinister, as many characters come to a sticky
end. There are unintended consequences when a pioneering brain
surgeon decides to treat his dog with human stem cells after a road
accident leaves her with severe head injuries. An unscrupulous
farmer gets more than he bargains for when he buys a revolutionary
new tractor. A chance purchase of a pair of shoes in a secondhand
shop changes Toby from a victim to an aggressor.
Set during the 2nd World War, Mushroom Cloud is an account of what
could have happened if Germany had developed the nuclear bomb
before America and the Americans could not support, or help Britain
anymore. What if Adolf Hitler had such a hold over Britain that
Churchill had to surrender to Germany? What would have become of
the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and the government? But most
importantly, what would have happened to the British people and
their way of life? This gripping, sometimes harrowing story follows
the lives of four different groups of people as they react to a
cataclysmic event in war-torn Europe. In the cause of freedom, some
risk their lives, some lose their lives and others find true love.
Alan Whichello's first novel demonstrates a natural story-telling
ability, which will have the reader hooked from the start
When an asteroid disintegrated on entering the Earth's atmosphere,
some pieces fell to earth. Billy and his friend had been watching
through their telescope in the early hours as a small meteorite
ploughed into the fields behind their Oxfordshire home. The boys
retrieved the meteorite and took it home before the authorities had
time to search the area. What the boys found while examining the
rock was to change the world. Previously humans had been the
dominant species on Earth, now they had found a challenger.
