Alban Berg's dark, satirical opera charts the rise and fall of a femme fatale, from life as a society hostess to prostitution and eventually bloody death at the hands of Jack the Ripper. Franz Welser-Most leads the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House in this production from 2002, with Laura Aiken in the lead role.

Andris Nelsons leads the Lucerne Festival Orchestra in this concert performed in memory of Italian conductor Claudio Addado, who died in January 2014. The performance, which features violinist Isabelle Faust, was recorded at the Concert Hall of KKL Lucerne.

The Austrian premier of Alban Berg's darkly satirical opera, recorded live at Vienna's Theater an Der Wien in 1962. In what proved to be a career-defining performance, American soprano Evelyn Lear takes on the role of Lulu, a femme fatale who descends from life as a society hostess into prostitution. Other cast members include Rudolph Schock, Paul Schöffler and Josef Knapp. The conductor is Karl Böhm.

According to Elias Canetti, "with Wozzeck, Buchner achieved the most complete revolution in the whole of literature". The same can be said of Berg's opera, as revolutionary in the history of music.
