Color Image Processing: Methods and Applications embraces two
decades of extraordinary growth in the technologies and
applications for color image processing. The book offers
comprehensive coverage of state-of-the-art systems, processing
techniques, and emerging applications of digital color imaging. To
elucidate the significant progress in specialized areas, the
editors invited renowned authorities to address specific research
challenges and recent trends in their area of expertise. The book
begins by focusing on color fundamentals, including color
management, gamut mapping, and color constancy. The remaining
chapters detail the latest techniques and approaches to
contemporary and traditional color image processing and analysis
for a broad spectrum of sophisticated applications, including:
Vector and semantic processing Secure imaging Object recognition
and feature detection Facial and retinal image analysis Digital
camera image processing Spectral and superresolution imaging Image
and video colorization Virtual restoration of artwork Video shot
segmentation and surveillance Color Image Processing: Methods and
Applications is a versatile resource that can be used as a graduate
textbook or as stand-alone reference for the design and the
implementation of various image and video processing tasks for
cutting-edge applications. This book is part of the Digital Imaging
and Computer Vision series.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the workshops
held withthe 17th International Conference on Image Analysis and
Processing, ICIAP 2013, held in Naples, Italy, in September 2013.
The proceedings include papers from the five individual workshops
focusing on topics of interest to the pattern recognition, image
analysis, and computer vision communities, exploring emergent
research directions or spotlight cross-disciplinary links with
related fields and / or application areas."
This book is part of the refereed 2-volume proceedings of the 9th
International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing,
ICIAP'97, held in Florence, Italy, September 1997.
Both volumes together present several keynote contributions and 173
revised papers selected from over 300 submissions. The contributing
authors (more than 400 in number) provide a wealth of new results
in the areas of image analysis, pattern recognition and computer
vision. Among the basic topics covered are image enhancement, image
segmentation, image compression, motion analysis, object
recognition, image understanding, and special hardware
architectures and systems, etc. Among the application areas covered
are biomedical imaging, character recognition, safety and
surveillance, object identification, etc.

This book covers state of the art techniques for health personnel
training using natural interfaces, immersive systems and serious
games paradigms. Opening with a comprehensive introduction to the
state of immersive visualisation techniques of interaction and
simulation used in the industry and training research, the authors
then focus on computer vision techniques used to develop realtime
training systems effectively, providing recognition of actions and
re-identification of persons. Principles of serious gaming applied
to immersive natural interfaces are also addressed. The book
culminates with the presentation of two prototypes of immersive
systems for natural interaction, that the authors have developed
and tested for the training of medical personnel. These prototypes
use the principles and the technologies described in the first part
of the book. Natural Interaction in Medical Training offers a
unique point of view from medical professionals and computer
engineers.
